Voyage of the Dawn Treader Trailer + Caps

Anna is indeed in the new Voyage of the Dawn Treader trailer, in the book Lucy looks at at 1.15 and again at the 1.49 mark! :

On another note, there is no more mention of Anna playing in the film ‘Hannah’ on her IMDB or elsewhere. Sorry guys, guess it was just a very developed rumor, but at least we know we’ll see her in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader this Christmas!

Voyage of the Dawn Treader Posters, Hanna role reassessed

We have our first look at Anna as Susan Pevensie in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, thanks to some promotional posters found outside of a cinema! Thanks Jamyle for the tip. You can see all of the shots, including all of the main characters and the creatures at Mundonarnia.

The image looks a bit like Anna at the end of Prince Caspian, so I’m still not convinced that Anna actually acted in this role or if they manipulated an image back from filming in Prince Caspian — what do you think?

And now for some bad news. It was reported that Anna was confirmed for the role of Sophie Domerc in the new 2011 film Hanna. While Anna is still listed for the part on the film’s IMDB, which is supposedly official, there has been some talk of another English actress actually having the part:

Seventeen year old Jessica Barden is currently treading the boards in the West End with Ian Rickson’s highly acclaimed play Jerusalem and will next be seen on the big screen in Joe Wright’s feature Hanna. {sonyclassics.com}

While neither Anna or Jessica have been directly confirmed for the part of Sophie, I want to reassess Anna’s confirmation back to a rumor. It is possible that both are in the film (one as Sophie and another as a different part), or Anna isn’t actually in the film at all. However, Jessica isn’t listed quite officially either — Jessica Barden @ IMDB. Only time will tell, we will bring you the latest developments on who is really playing Sophie Domerc in Hanna as it comes. Don’t get your hopes up just yet!

Anna Confirmed for “Hanna” Role!

IMDB has indeed confirmed Anna to be playing Sophie Domerc in the upcoming film “Hannah”! Hanna is currently in production and is set for a 2011 release. It is an action and adventure movie directed by Joe Right (Pride & Prejudice, Atonement, The Soloist) and starring Saoirse Ronan, Cate Blanchett, Eric Bana and Olivia Williams. Here’s the updated plot:

Hanna (Ronan) is a teenage girl. Uniquely, she has the strength, the stamina, and the smarts of a solider; these come from being raised by her father (Bana), an ex-CIA man, in the wilds of Finland. Living a life unlike any other teenager, her upbringing and training have been one and the same, all geared to making her the perfect assassin. The turning point in her adolescence is a sharp one; sent into the world by her father on a mission, Hanna journeys stealthily across Europe while eluding agents dispatched after her by a ruthless intelligence operative with secrets of her own (Ms. Blanchett). As she nears her ultimate target, Hanna faces startling revelations about her existence and unexpected questions about her humanity. Written by Focus Features

Anna’s character, Sophie, is Hanna’s French friend, a 14-year-old described as “very extroverted…really into typical teenage girl things like boys, facebook, clothing, etc.” Sophie is featured prominently throughout the script. Filming has already started, and there are already a couple of movie stills out. Filming locations include Germany, finland, Morocco and the U.K.! Thanks Emma for the tip. We will have more updates as they come, and this definitely means a new layout is on it’s way :D !

Oxford University Photoshoot Update!

I’m so stoked to share these new photos from my favorite Anna shoot! Sixteen unseen MQ photos have been added to the 2008 shoot done by Francesco Guidicini! These were done in Anna’s very own home-turf at Magdalene school at Oxford, where she will be graduating with an English degree this year :D :

I’ve also added a couple new MQ’s to the Prince Caspian Premiere in Germany in ‘08. Since it looks like Anna is getting back into the swing of things what with graduation and a Narnia cameo, I have yet another layout tentatively planned for some time in the near future :) .

Anna Appears in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader Trailer

On May 1st, there was a Biolamedia conference at the CBS studios in Hollywood, where they showed the trailer to The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of Dawn Treader. As word has it, Anna was actually in the trailer as Susan Pevensie! This is surprising because Susan and Peter are not in the Voyage of Dawn Treader book by C.S. Lewis, and Anna has said she did not return to film VDT. However, speculations are that this could be a flashback scene, or similar to when Tilda Swinton was CGI’d in Prince Caspian, from footage they had of her from the previous film. We also know that Anna did visit the set of VDT, although she didn’t formallly announce participating in filming while she was there.

The scene has Susan appearing in a spell book that Lucy is looking at. When Lucy turns to the spell of ‘beauty beyond the lot of mortals’, an image of Susan conjures into her mind and onto the page. Here are some reports on the scene:

Aslans Country:

Lucy walks down the hall to the magician’s book. She opens it as Aslan’s voice speaks in the background. Snow falls as she gazes around in wonder. Another clip of the book includes Lucy looking on the page of the spell of beauty beyond the lot of mortals, and her image in the books morphs into an image of Susan.

The Lions Call:

On the Island of the Voices, we see Lucy approach Coriakin’s Book. At first, it bears a number of scrambled letters placed at random on the cover, but once unclasped, the cover reads “The Book of Incantations.”

At one point, standing before the book, Lucy apparently causes it to snow, covering the room in white and bringing a smile to her face, reminiscent of her first foray into Narnia. Later in the trailer, she looks into the book and sees a picture of herself that morphs into the face of her sister Susan.

Narniafans:

There was a good scene of Lucy in the Magic Room. Beautiful set. Aslan fast forwards Lucy through the book. Lucy says a spell and Susan appears in the window. Yes, Anna Popplewell makes an appearance.

I hope this means the trailer is coming to the public soon! We will keep you posted :D .

New Interview: From Narnia to the classroom

I’ve found a new interview Anna did with the Solihull Times whilst she was at the Memorabilia Convention in Birmingham last month. She informs us she visited the set of Dawn Treader, and is still planning on returning to acting this June, when she is expected to graduate Oxford:

BY the time she was 18, Anna Popplewell had vanquished the White Witch and saved a kingdom – now she’s facing her toughest test yet, university finals.

The young actress, who shot to fame in the Narnia films, was among the guests at last weekend’s Memorabilia Fair. The Solihull News managed to grab some time with Anna to chat about archery, acting and the Oxford reading list.

“This is my first convention,” she says. “I was really curious to see what it would be like. It’s amazing, there’s such a variety of people here. I’m going to have to have a wander round later.”

Acting since she was seven-years-old, Anna is best known for playing Susan Pevensie – one of the leading characters in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005) and Prince Caspian (2008).

She tells me that she’d read CS Lewis’ books as a child, but she wasn’t phased about stepping into the character’s shoes.

“I just read the scripts really and worked closely with the director.

“I approached her the same as any other character really. I didn’t have to go and live in a wood or anything like that.”

And did she grow close to her on-screen siblings.

“We all keep in touch and I went out to see them filming some of Dawn Dreader [the next film in the series, out this year]. We all know each really well and it’s nice to meet up.”

Now aged 21, Anna won’t be appearing in the third film – but said it had been nice to try something new.

“I had a great time appearing in the Narnia films, but I’m glad that I’ve gone to university. I really wanted to do it, just for the experience really.

“I finish up in June, providing I pass my exams of course. Then I’ll be looking to go back into acting.”

I imagine that English Literature was a bit of a change in pace from the cut and thrust of fantasy films.

“It was quite gruelling, I did a lot of practise – particularly with the bow and arrow. But actually a lot of the real work was CGI, with them putting the arrows in afterwards.”

So it wasn’t quite as lethal as it looked? “No,” Anna laughs. “I’m not a trained warrior.” {solihullnews.net}

Sugar Mouse has also found an article where Anna is mentioned in relation to the Marathon she ran last year, and a man who is using her signature in a charity project at theargus.co.uk.

Memorabilia Expo: Day 2

We received our first photo from Anna’s second day at Memorabilia from the lovely Andy, who took his daughter to see her favorite star:

Gracie had a wonderful day she was a bit overwhelmed at first but Anna made her feel very special.

Gracie is even writing a thankyou letter to Anna. Too cute :D !
